Jack Tuttle Snell-Ryan is an interdisciplinary artist and curator whose practice explores sound, trance, and contemporary culture through the conduits of sonic theory, sculpture, and drawing. I am Professor of Art at the University of Oregon and the former Director of Graduate Studies. I’ve held teaching positions at The School of Visual Arts in New York and UGA Cortona Italy. I studied at Hunter College (NY), and received an MFA with Distinction from the University of Georgia (Athens). At the University of Oregon I teach courses in CoreSTUDIO, Printmaking, Drawing, Sculpture, Graduate Studies, and collaboratively in the School of Music. I’ve twice been awarded Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity senior fellowships. I’ve received funding from the Oregon Arts Commision, Tennessee Arts Commission, the Ford Family Foundation, and I am a co-recipient of funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation through PICA and its regional re-granting program. In 2015 I received the Hallie Ford Fellowship.
